In 2018, a new chemical called ammonium chlorate was used to fertilise farmland.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has now approved the use of the fertiliser to help farmers in the United States and Canada.
The EPA says it is the first time that the chemical is being used to control weeds.
